ArmourTone Top Coat

Generic Type

ArmourTone Top Coat is a high performance epoxy-acrylic hybrid sealer that is trowel or blade applied. Top Coat improves resistance to water, chemicals, stains, scratches and scuffs.

Common Usage

Use TopCoat to seal any smooth ArmourTone Finish or other types of plaster or wall finishes. It is used for interior or exterior applications over smooth surfaces. Available in gloss and satin finishes.

Application

  1. Periodically, as the work progresses, evaluated from a distance to ensure that desired effect is being produced across the entire surface.
  2. If installing in a wet environment, the ArmourTone High Humidity Wet Areas specification must be followed.
  3. Apply a test area in an inconspicuous area to evaluate compatibility.
  4. Top Coat may be applied over any smooth arm or tone finish.
  5. For best results apply with Venetian Trowels or bondo blades.
  6. Apply Top Coat in very thin, even coats.
  7. Apply using decorative, multi-directional trowel strokes.
  8. For maximum protection and for a more even appearance apply two or more quotes.
  9. Allow 2 hours in between coats once the surface is dry to the touch it may be burnished slightly with a clean, dry Venetian trowel to increase shine and smoothness.

Substrate Preparation

Surface must be clean, dry and free of bond-inhibiting materials such as dust, dirt, rust, grease, oil, mildew, fungus, form-release agents or any other contaminants.

Limitations

  1. Use only on surfaces that are sound, clean, giant free from any residue that may affect the ability of this product to bond to the surface.
  2. The use of a sealer is recommended in high-moisture or high traffic areas.
  3. Ambient and surface temperatures must be 40° F (4° C) or higher during application and drying time. Provide supplemental heat and protection from moisture as needed.
  4. Application in direct sunlight in hot weather may adversely affect aesthetics.
  5. Do not allow to freeze until completely dry.
  6. Always wear proper safety equipment, including particle masks, eye protection and gloves when mixing and/or applying this product.

Drying Time

Avoid rain, heavy traffic and cleaning for 48 hours after application. Allow material to dry 3 to 4 hours under normal conditions. High humidity and low temperatures extend drying time.
